This week... I traveled all the way from the small town I was at last time, Villematier, to Cahors, France! I traveled a total distance of almost 100 kilometers! Along the way, I found many different towns and cities that had lots to offer from culture to food to just plain sight seeing.
I made a pit stop in Montauban, France--a very quaint town with about 56,000 people. The town is built of mainly red bricks, which makes a lovely view of all the homes and buildings!
I visited this very old bridge, called "Old Bridge" and the Ingres Museum, and let me tell you, WOW!
Man this was probably one of the oldest museums that I have EVER visited. There weren't any major art pieces, but there were very beautiful pieces there.
After all the sight seeing and the museum trip, I got really hungry and decided to visit the most reputable restaurant in town: L'Estanquet. The restaurant was very elegant, as many of my visits have been in France, though it showed some sense of culture too! I was very excited about the prices because they were very affordable. I had a small Caesar salad (my hunger vanished as soon as I saw the wine and dessert menu!) which was very delicious. (here is the site to their Restaurant in case you ever want to visit town ! http://www.restaurantlestanquet.com/?page_id=227)
After my meal here I headed STRAIGHT to Cahors out of eagerness!
When I first arrived in Cahors, I was AMAZED at what I saw. Here is what I was privileged to see.
This is the Valentre (accent aigu on the e) bridge. This bridge, after speaking to some of the locals, took almost 70 years to complete! Building first started in 1308 and finished a little after 1378! I was quite surprised, but then again, something as beautiful as this doesn't just get built overnight.
I had the pleasure of eating at L'O a la Bouche, which is a restaurant that is in a 14th century building. Even eating in this town is so Historical! The menu was all at a fixed price, so everything cost exactly the same!
I had such a great time here, that I cant wait to see what brings my next travels!
